The first day of our grand desert odyssey begins as we pick you up from your accommodation in Fes. Our first stop takes us to the captivating town of Azrou, nestled within the expansive cedar forest – the largest in Morocco. Here, keep an eye out for the playful Barbarian apes that inhabit the area, offering a delightful glimpse into their natural habitat.
Continuing our journey, we traverse the Tizi n’ Talghamt Pass, a route that treats us to scenic views of the Middle Atlas and Higher Atlas Mountains. Our drive takes us along the breathtaking Ziz Gorges, a spectacle carved through volcanic rock, before leading us into the luxuriant Ziz Valley. As we pass through charming Berber villages, we reach Erfoud and Rissani, two towns rich in history and culture. Finally, the day culminates in the awe-inspiring Merzouga, where you will be warmly welcomed with a refreshing glass of mint tea before checking into your comfortable riad or hotel.

After a delightful lunch in the heart of the gorge, we head to the Dades Valley, known for its majestic sandcastles and peculiar rock formations referred to as “monkey toes.” Tonight, you’ll find comfort and tranquility in a charming riad or hotel within the valley, setting the stage for a restful evening.
With the morning sun casting its gentle glow upon the Dades Valley, enjoy a delicious breakfast in your riad or hotel before setting out for another day of adventure.
Our route takes us through the “Way of the Thousand Kasbahs,” a scenic road that offers countless opportunities for breathtaking photography. Stop at Kalaat Mgouna, known as “the rose city,” and visit the cooperative where you can purchase rosewater, a fragrant reminder of your journey.
Continuing onward, we arrive at the iconic Ait Ben Haddou Kasbah, a UNESCO World Heritage site and a remarkable testament to Berber architecture and culture. Here, you’ll have the chance to explore the kasbah’s fascinating history and appreciate its intricate details.
The final leg of our journey takes us through the majestic Tizi n’Tichka Pass, crossing over the High Atlas Mountains at an elevation of 2260 meters.
