Upon your arrival at Fes airport, you’ll be warmly greeted and escorted to your riad in the heart of the Medina. After settling in, your Fes exploration begins with a captivating walk through the narrow alleys and streets of the oldest city in Morocco. Discover the cultural and historical gems of Fes, starting with a visit to the Royal Palace gate, followed by the Jewish quarter, and the first Mellah built during the 16th century. An enthralling experience awaits as you visit the renowned Al Qaraouine University, the oldest in the region, along with the Tanneries, the Attarine museum, and the Mulay Idriss mausoleum.
The afternoon offers a chance to witness a panoramic view of the Medina from a vantage point and a visit to the modern “La ville nouvelle” for a refreshing drink. As the day comes to an end, retreat to your accommodation for a restful night’s sleep, filled with anticipation for the upcoming adventures. (Bed and Breakfast included)
After a delightful breakfast at your riad, we bid farewell to Fes and head towards the picturesque village of Ifran, often referred to as “the Switzerland of Morocco,” for its charming mountain setting. Our journey continues to Azrou, a Berber village surrounded by the famous cedar forest, where you may encounter the playful Barbary apes.
As we venture through the scenic Tiz Ntalghamt pass and the awe-inspiring Ziz Gorge, the landscapes gradually transform, offering glimpses of the desert as we approach Errachidia. Passing through the luxuriant Ziz Valley, we reach Erfoud and Rissani before finally arriving at Merzouga. Welcomed with a refreshing glass of mint tea, you’ll check into your riad to prepare for an extraordinary desert experience. (Dinner, Bed, and Breakfast included)
After a delectable breakfast at your riad, the day unveils with an explorative journey of the area around Merzouga. Visit the Gnawa people, originally from Sudan, and delve into their captivating music and lifestyle. The nearby Merzouga lake with its vibrant bird population offers a tranquil escape. Don’t miss the opportunity to visit a nomad wire house, where authentic Berber handicrafts can be found.
In the afternoon, embark on a mesmerizing camel trek into the golden sand sea of Merzouga, guided by experienced camel handlers. As the sun sets over the dunes, you’ll be treated to a delightful dinner in front of your traditional Berber tent, where you’ll spend the night, creating memories that will last a lifetime. (Dinner, Bed, and Breakfast included)
Witness the enchanting sunrise over the Erg Chebbi dunes as your camelman wakes you early in the morning. A peaceful camel trek back to Merzouga allows you to appreciate the ever-changing beauty of the desert landscape as the day progresses. Enjoy breakfast at your riad before setting out on the next leg of our journey.
Today, we journey towards the Todra Gorges, the highest and narrowest gorges in Morocco, where you can choose to hike within the valley and connect with the locals. After a delightful lunch in the heart of the gorge, we drive through the mesmerizing Dades Valley, adorned with majestic sandcastles and unique rock formations known as “monkey toes.” Our day concludes in Ouarzazat, where you’ll find comfort and relaxation at your accommodation.
