Upon your arrival at Tangier Port/Airport, you’ll receive a warm welcome as we commence our journey to Chefchaouen. En route, enjoy captivating views of the fertile plains of the Rif Mountains. Depending on the time, you may have the opportunity to visit Assilah, a charming coastal town. Upon arrival in Chefchaouen, check into your riad and relish the peaceful ambiance. Overnight at a delightful riad/hotel, where Bed and Breakfast await you.
After a scrumptious breakfast at your riad, venture into Chefchaouen, “The blue city of Morocco.” Nestled between two majestic mountains, Chefchaouen’s blue-washed walls and azure doors and windows create a breathtaking sight. Influenced by Spanish civilization and Moorish architecture, the city boasts a unique charm. Around noon, depart for Fes via the town of Ouazzan and the Roman ruins of Volubilis, an ancient Roman empire dating back to 225 BC, adorned with magnificent mosaics from the 3rd century BC. After a delightful breakfast in your hotel/riad, set forth on a captivating exploration of Fes, the spiritual heart of Morocco. Unravel the secrets of the Medina and its alleys as you visit cultural and historical gems like the renowned Al Karaouine Mosque and University, the world’s oldest operating university. Discover the Medrasa Bouanania, the vibrant Tanneries, and the elegant Najjarine fountain. After a fulfilling lunch, venture outside the Medina to see the Royal Palace gate, traverse the Jewish quarter “the Mellah,” and visit the pottery cooperative. Enjoy breakfast in your riad before embarking on a journey southeast to Merzouga via Midelt and Errachidia. Along the way, the landscapes change, offering glimpses of the Middle Atlas and Higher Atlas Mountains. Pause at the famous cedar forest, home to the charismatic Barbary apes. As you approach Errachidia, notice the transformation revealing hints of the desert. Continue through the luxuriant Ziz Valley, stopping for breathtaking panoramic views. Arrive in Merzouga, where you’ll be welcomed with mint tea before checking into your hotel/riad. (Half-board included)
Start the day with a delicious breakfast in your riad, then set out to explore the Merzouga area. Immerse yourself in the music and lifestyle of the Gnawa people, originally slaves from Sudan. Explore the traditional souk in Rissani, a town steeped in history and culture. After breakfast in your riad/hotel, drive through the Dades Valley towards Kalaat Mgouna and Ouarzazat. The route through the Dades Valley offers numerous opportunities for the best photographic shots of your trip. Stop at Kalaat Mgouna, known as “the rose city,” and acquire rosewater, which will perfume your linen long after your journey ends. Continue to Marrakech via the Ait Ben Haddou Kasbah, a UNESCO World Heritage site. The Kasbah, once home to Berber chieftains, boasts rich history and breathtaking architecture.
